In 2024, the Conseil d’État continues its bilateral exchanges with the Supreme Court of Spain, initiated in 2009. A delegation led by the President of the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court, in charge of admnistrative disputes, Mr Pablo Lucas Murillo de la Cueva, was received in Paris on 12th July 2024 for a seminar led by vice-president, Didier-Roland Tabuteau.
During this meeting, 3 topics were discussed:
- Should the right to abortion be protected by Constitution?
- Is the general interest still the alpha and the omega for the administrative judge?
- The role of “Communication” in a Supreme Court.
Placed at the pinnacle of the judicial power in Spain, the Supreme court is the last resort judge in every field of law, except for the review of the constitutionality of legislation. It is divided into seven chambers, with a third chamber, in charge of administrative disputes. The Conseil d’État also maintains cooperative ties with the Spanish Council of State, whose role is exclusively advisory.
