On the 24th and 25th of November 2024, a delegation from the Conseil d'Etat led by the President of the Studies, Forward Studies and Cooperation Section, Martine de Boisdeffre, was received at tthe Swiss Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne by its President, Yves Donzallaz.
This bilateral study seminar addressed the following topics: freedom of demonstration and judicial review of bans on demonstrations, access to the climate judge and, finally, the appointment of members of the Federal Supreme Court and the Conseil d'Etat.
This is the sixth meeting between the two courts since 2012.
The Swiss Federal Supreme Court is the supreme judicial authority of the Swiss Confederation. It has final jurisdiction in civil, criminal, administrative and constitutional matters. Its central position within Swiss institutions enables it to ensure the uniform application of federal law in the twenty-six Swiss cantons and to guarantee the protection of citizens' constitutional rights.
