Bilateral seminar with the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom

The French Council of State welcomed this Monday 8th of December 2025, the president of the British Supreme Court of the United Kingdom*, Lord Reed of Allermuir and three of his colleagues for a working seminar. This seminar falls within the continuity of bilateral cooperation between the two institutions.

Discussions focused on asylum right, the place of the European Court of Human Rights in France and the UK, as well as digital rights and protection of personal data. 

For more than 30 years, the French Council of State and the UK Supreme Court have met regularly in order to discuss, from a comparative perspective, the new challenges shared by both institutions. 

*The British Supreme Court is the highest jurisdiction in the UK. The Court sits in London and is composed of 12 justices.
